City of Frisco Water Conservation Plan Calls for Daily, Time-of-Day Restrictions During Summer

The City of Frisco encourages residents to continue to use water wisely during the historically drier summer months.  To promote water efficiency, time-of-day outdoor watering restrictions are now in effect.

Per the City of Frisco Water Conservation Plan, summer watering hours are effective daily, June 1 through September 30, and include these restrictions:

  • No outdoor watering between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 a.m., and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • No outdoor watering allowed during rainfall
  • No excessive watering that allows water runoff to paved areas or other water waste.

The provisions restricting outdoor watering during rainfall, temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit (during cold-weather months), and water runoff are enforced year-round.

Another way the City of Frisco encourages water efficiency is through the ET Controller Program.  After installation verification and $25 registration fee, the program offers a one-time, $100 rebate to homeowners who install an ET controller device to work with their existing sprinkler system.  ET controllers work by receiving radio, pager or Internet signals. The information tells the ET controller to allow a sprinkler system to replace only the moisture lost to heat, humidity and wind.  To receive the rebate, the ET controller must be a model from the list of city-approved devices.  Click on  www.FriscoTexas.gov/water to see the approved list of ET controllers.

The city can also help you determine if your sprinkler system is working effectively.  Schedule a free irrigation check-up by calling Mike Barth at 972-292-5844, or contact the city’s water education coordinator, Melody Emadiazar, at 972-292-5814 for more information about Frisco’s Waterwise program.
